Scented Cinnamon Ornaments
Hang these INEDIBLE ornaments on the tree, tie them onto holiday packages, or string a garland of them across the fireplace mantle.
1 C. cinnamon
1 Tablespoon ground Cloves
1 Tablespoon Nutmeg
¾ C. Applesauce
2 Tablespoons White Glue
In a medium bowl, combine the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Add the applesauce and glue, stir to combine. Work the mixture with your hands for about 2 to 3 minutes or until the dough is smooth and ingredients are mixed. Roll out the dough to about ¼ to 3/8 in. thickness. Cut the dough with the cookie cutters. You can use a straw to make a small hole in the top of the ornament. You can run ribbon through the holes once the “cookies” have dried. Place the cutouts on wire racks and allow to dry at room temperature for several days. Turn the ornaments over once each day for uniform drying.
The 3-D Ornament Cookies can be attached using the royal icing recipe that has been tinted dark brown. This icing dries hard and works well with the “cookies”.
